DMV offices to close

STAFFORD — In honor of Veterans Day, all Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) customer service centers will be closed on Nov. 11. Customers may complete 25 different transactions at www.dmvNOW.com. Customers may renew their vehicle registration or driver’s licenses online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, customers can use the mail or DMV’s automated telephone service (1-888-337-4782) for routine transactions.

Swarovski to sparkle at The Village
SPOTSYLVANIA — Dazzling crystal creations will take center stage when Swarovski opens its doors at The Village at Towne Centre. The store will occupy about 1,500 square feet of space in the heart of The Village, near Fredericksburg.

The grand opening is scheduled for May 2009.

The Village is an all-new 250,000 square foot, open-air addition to Spotsylvania Towne Centre. A preview was available on Halloween for those who just couldn’t wait.

Swarovski is a world leader in precision-cut crystal. Founded in Wattens, Austria in 1895, the company’s boutiques are now found in 120 countries. It remains a family owned and managed business.

Swarovski will be joining retailers and restaurants such as Sephora, Coldwater Creek, Firebirds, Saxon Shoes, Fink’s Jewelers, Cache, Bravo Cucina Italiana and The Pub Fredericksburg.

Spotsylvania Towne Centre comprises more than 1.3 million square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space.

Since 1981, Spotsylvania Towne Centre has undergone a dramatic metamorphosis to serve the needs of the rapidly growing Fredericksburg area.

Monarch Pool Care joins council meeting

STAFFORD — Ruth Garavalia, owner, of Monarch Pool Care — The Backyard Place, recently participated in the first-ever national Backyard Place Advisory Council in Covington, La.

She joined eight other Backyard Place dealers on the national panel, which reviewed progress made by the 2-year-old retail program, in order to evaluate strategies for 2009.

The business, which opened in 2007, offers a variety of products including chemicals, toys and games, safety equipment, grills and outdoor decorations.
