Congressman Rob Wittman (second from left) visited the Reger Group in North Stafford on Monday.
STAFFORD — Virginia Congressman Rob Wittman visited The Reger Group in North Stafford on Monday, touring the facility and meeting with employees.
Wittman, R-1st District, was on hand to greet employees, business owner Tom Reger and Stafford’s Director of Economic Development, Tim Baroody.
“The Reger Group is a prime example of how important small business is to the economic well being of our region, and why we in Congress must work to protect small businesses from government regulation and higher taxes,” said Wittman.
The Reger Group, part of Reger Family Businesses, works with government agencies to help them deal with emerging homeland defense and security requirements resulting from America’s military efforts overseas.
During his visit, Wittman discussed a variety of issues including the importance of small businesses.
“With the economy the way it is today, we need to do what we can to encourage growth in small businesses. Jobs are created when we allow businesses to grow,” he said.
He also stressed the need for accountability in spending stimulus dollars, and stressed that stringent oversight is necessary.
Wittman, who visited Iraq and Afghanistan over the Christmas holiday, spent time with troops and met with military leaders.
“One thing that our men and women in uniform specifically asked me to do once I returned,” he said, “ was to let everyone know that good things are happening in Iraq, and the Iraqi government is on its way to success.”
