Local woman a winner on 'Wheel'

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

STAFFORD — Local resident Courtney Thompson was the big winner on an episode of “Wheel of Fortune,” which aired Monday night.

Thompson, a Stafford High School graduate, is currently attending Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

Her parents, Kari and Greg Thompson, appeared on the pre-taped show to cheer her on.

Courtney Thompson, at one point falling behind the other two contestants, suddenly came from behind to win big.

She did not solve the final puzzle that she was challenged to solve herself — gooey taffy — but the letters just weren’t there, said host Pat Sajak.

In total, Courtney Thompson walked away with $23,000.
