Performance to wrap up city’s Bluemont Concert Series

STAFFORD — The Daryl Davis Band will wrap up the Bluemont Concert Series in Fredericksburg on Saturday, delivering the last of nine concerts performed by a variety of bands throughout the summer.

The band is a five-piece, rhythm-and-blues rock band featuring Daryl Davis, who has worked with such acts as the Muddy Waters Legendary Blues Band, Elvis Presley’s Jordanaires, The Coasters and Chuck Berry.

The concert will take place at the Maury School Stadium field, located at the intersection of Hanover Street and Kenmore Avenue in Fredericksburg.

Those coming to enjoy the show should bring blankets and lawn chairs, according to Bluemont, and even a picnic dinner if they chose to do so. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, and $2 for children under 12 years old.

Bluemont proceeds go to support its year-round Artist-in-Education program in area schools.

Bluemont concerts do not permit alcohol, smoking or pets at the venues, according to a press release from the organization. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at James Monroe High School.

The Bluemont Concert Series relies on more than 1,000 volunteers each summer for its concerts. The series is made possible by a public/private partnership that includes area localities, organizations and donors. This summer, Bluemont presented more than 65 concerts in northwest and central Virginia.
