STAFFORD — Richmond’s former governor and even more recently, its former mayor, has taken on teaching and in his spare time, blogging.

Wilder, who ended his term as Richmond’s mayor at the end of the year, is taking on an online blog called WilderVisions. The blog will cover local and national topics, he notes in his opening entry.

He wrote: “Leaving office as Richmond’s first popularly-elected mayor in 60 years, I am confident that our city is moving in the right direction. …”

The nation’s first black governor, Wilder has decided to embark on full-time teaching at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond now that his term has ended.

Taking over for Wilder as mayor of Richmond, Dwight Clinton Jones, was sworn in earlier this week.
