Brooke Point High Fall Play
Brooke Point High School students will be performing The Odd Couple (Female Version) by Neil Simon on Nov. 6, 7 and 8. The play will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Brooke Point’s theater. Brooke Point is located at 1700 Courthouse Road in Stafford, and tickets are $5 per person.
First Friday
A celebration of the arts, First Night Fredericksburg will feature new exhibit openings in downtown galleries. Times vary, but most places will be open from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 8
Basket Bingo
At 7 p.m., a Vera Bradley and Longaberger basket bingo will take place at Spotsylvania High School. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets will be $15 in advance or $18 at the door. Proceeds will go to support the Spotsylvania High School Marching Band.
Caregivers Symposium
This is a special community event offering information for those caring for an elderly parent of loved one. The symposium is designed to help caregivers take care of themselves while caring for their loved ones. From 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. information on Fredericksburg-area community resources for the elderly and their caregivers, as well as presentations on various topics will be presented. Several of the topics are Myths of Aging, Nutrition for Caregivers, Exercise, Dealing with Incontinence and Spirituality. For more information or to register, call (540) 741-1439.
Christmas Open House Weekend
Olde Virginia Gourmet and Gifts, located at 261 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford, will hold its Annual Christmas Open House Weekend. Free mulled cider and gourmet food tastings will be available all weekend. A free wine tasting with Gray Ghost Vineyards & Winery will take place on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. On Sunday, a free “holiday-style” wine tasting will take place, also from 12 to 4 p.m. For hours and more information, please call (540) 720-3901.

Battling the Holiday Blues
A free informational seminar will be held at Potomac Place, in the second-floor library. Sierra Club Meeting
The Rappahannock Group Sierra Club will hold its monthly meeting at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, at 308 Hanover St. Open to the public, the event will be held between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. The program this month is “The State of the Rappahannock River.” For more information, call (540) 775-7856.

Spanish Living With Lupus Workshop
The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Washington area will provide its first workshop in Spanish, Vivir Con Lupus. The workshop will follow the same format as the usual Living With Lupus workshops. Dr. Rodolfo Curiel, a rheumatologist, and Vilmary Reymundi will be the facilitators. Winter Carnival/Santa Workshop
The Brooke Point Band Boosters will hold a winter carnival. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., “parents can come to shop, kids can come to play” at Brooke Point High School, 1700 Courthouse Road. Ticket sales will be held at the door.
Learn and Serve Fall Festival
From 1 to 4 p.m. at Mountain View High School’s field hockey field, the MVHS Learn and Serve class will hold a fall festival. Face painting, sack races and a moon bounce are just a part of the afternoon’s activities. Admittance price is two non-perishable canned food items to benefit the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank.
Women’s Conference
At 8:30 p.m., a women’s conference will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church. The speaker will be Viola Jackson.
Sunday, November 16
Maranatha Second Generation Choir Concert
Everyone is cordially invited to Stafford Baptist Church, at 2202 Jefferson Davis Highway, where, at 6 p.m., Maranatha Second Generation Choir will hold a special concert. Admission is free.
