Shirley M. Butler
Shirley M. Butler, 82, of Broadway, Va., died Monday, April 20, 2009 at her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harmon and Ollie Hoover Waggy; her husband of 61 years, Thomas A. Butler; three sisters, Ada Kiser, Eva Propst and Leafy Waggy; and five brothers, Cecil Waggy, Ralph Waggy, Elmer Waggy, Virgil Waggy, and Marvin Waggy.

Survivors include her daughters, Gloria Butler of Dumfries and Judith Kilby of Broadway; two granddaughters; two brothers, Arlie Waggy and John Waggy; and one sister, Mary Finisdore.

A funeral service was held April 24 at Ramoth Baptist Church, with interment following in the church cemetery. Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford, handled the arrangements.

Irwin G. Cohen
Irwin G. Cohen, 78, of Stafford, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lillian Gold Cohen.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Hope; his children, Lisa Yapsam, Petina Cohen, and Jason Cohen; eight grandchildren; two siblings, Elaine Colletti and Marty Cohen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held April 28 at Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mary Washington Home and Health Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.

Capt. Ryan M. Davis
Capt. Ryan M. Davis, 37, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at his home in Fredericksburg following a 4-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

Survivors include his wife, Carina; two daughters, Alexandra and Natalie; one grandson; a son, Ryan; mother and stepfather, Nancy and Cordell Funk; a sister, Kendra Paniagua; step-brothers Graham Funk and Kevin Funk; one niece; and one nephew.

Covenant Funeral Service, 4801 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, handled the arrangements.

A memorial service was held April 28 at Ferry Farm Baptist Church, and military services the same day at Quantico.

James Sherwood Parrish
James Sherwood Parrish, 87, of Stafford County, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Marian Manor in Stafford.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Prather Parrish, and his son, James Winston Parrish.

Survivors include his son, Phillip S. Parrish; his daughter, Susan Cyrus; his brother, Matthew Denwood Parrish; his sisters, Marian Sidel and Nancy Posey; and five grandchildren.

Covenant Funeral Service in Stafford, handled the arrangements.

A graveside service was held in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria.

Ronnie L. Penninger
Ronnie Lee Penninger, 65, of Stafford County, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Penninger of Stafford; a son, Ronnie James Penninger of Stafford; a daughter, Paula Penninger Rouse of Georgia; a brother, Gary W. Penninger of South Carolina; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, with interment April 27 in Quantico National Cemetery.

Lois Wiley Sebold
Lois Wiley Sebold, 83, of Stafford County died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Stafford Hospital Center.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James T. Sebold and Joseph Torreyson; and a daughter, Leslie A. Sebold.

Survivors include her son, Tom Sebold of Stafford.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on May 1, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel, with interment following in Stafford Memorial Park.
