Rachel Jordan Bradshaw
Rachel Jordan Bradshaw, 71, of the White Oak area of Stafford County, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
Survivors include her companion of many years, James Boswell; her son, Gralyn Bradshaw of Stafford; her daughter, Dreama Wingard of Spotsylvania; her brother, Joseph Jordan of Falmouth; her sister, Virginia Durrett of Falmouth; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sonny Jordan; and her mother and stepfather, Olive Jordan, John Bradshaw.
A funeral service was held June 8 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with entombment following in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Ralph W. Burgess
Ralph Winston Burgess Sr., 67, of Hartwood died Wednesday, June 3, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rena McWhirt; his father Robert M Burgess; and two brothers, Rannie M. and Delmar Ray Burgess.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Burgess; his children, Debbie Griffis and, Ralph W. “Brother” Burgess Jr., Cami Cooper, and Bryan Shelton; four great grandchildren; and his stepfather, Sidney McWhirt; four sisters, Mary of Newberg, Maryland, Shirley Marquis of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ruth Ann Copeland of McCordsville, Indiana, and Lisa Dickinson of Stafford; three aunts, Ruth Burton, Myrtle Rose and Betty Gallahan; an uncle, Howard Gallahan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was held June 9 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with interment following in Hartwood Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Marvin Eugene Dovel
Marvin Eugene Dovel, 72, of Stafford County, died Saturday, June 06, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Peggy Dovel; his son, Frank Dovel; and his sister, Barbara Ann Wyant.
A graveside service will be held at noon, Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Quantico National Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Gray
Barbara Ann Calhoun Gray, 69, of Stafford, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Calhoun and Elisa Vaughan Calhoun; her husband, Robert Mason Gray; two brothers, Aubrey and Bob Calhoun; and a sister BettyAvalier.
Survivors include her seven children, Robert W. Gray II, Vivian Gray Redler, Ginny Wharton, Kitty T. Gray, David M. Gray, Kenneth E. Gray, and Matthew A. Gray; 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter Olivia Wharton; and two brothers, Tom and Charles Calhoun.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, Culpeper, handled the arrangements.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday June 11, 2009, 10 a.m., at Precious Blood Catholic Church, Culpeper. Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery (OLD).

James W. Nave, 74, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at his home.
Survivors included his sons, James W. Nave Jr. of Unionville, Michael W. Nave of Stafford, David Smith of Fredericksburg, and Jim Smith of Fredericksburg; his brothers, Joseph, John and Roderick Nave, all of Fredericksburg; his sisters, Mary Hewitt of Stafford and Lilly Mae Casey of N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Nave; and his stepdaughter, Helen Dishman.
A graveside service was held May 28, 2009 at the Nave Family Cemetery in King George.

Lt. Col. Mark Edward Stratton II
Lt. Col. Mark Edward Stratton II, 39, of Stafford County was killed Tuesday, May 26, 2009 near Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan while serving as Commander of the Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction team.
He was an active member of Stafford Baptist Church where he served as a beloved Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Stratton; his children, Delaney, Jake, and A.J.; his mother, Janice York; an uncle, Frank Little of Foley, Alabama; two brothers, Michael Stratton and Steven Stratton; his stepmother, Debby Young of Houston, Texas; grandparents, Frances Harrell, Gene and Dolly Little and Buzz & Ellen Goins.

A funeral service was held June 7 at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Stafford. Interment was June 9 at Arlington National Cemetery.

Cecilia Josephine Stuart, 77, of Stafford, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009.
Survivors include her son, David Monk of Stafford; two daughters, Phyllis Marksberry of Fredericksburg and Laura O’Neil King of Damascus, Maryland; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
A funeral was held June 6 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home, Stafford chapel.
Mabel Gill Sullivan
Mabel Gill Sullivan, 92, of Fredericksburg died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney H. Sullivan; a grandson; her parents, Joseph and Nora Gill; and her sister, Grace Jett.
Survivors include her son, Larry P. Sullivan of Hartwood; a daughter, Charlotte Johnson of Sebring, Florida; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Brooks of Fredericksburg and Esther Sullivan of Falmouth.
