Melvin Lee Jennings

Melvin Lee Jennings, 69, of Stafford, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanne Jennings; and his parents, Charles Jennings and Rosemary Schaedler.
Survivors include four children; Sheila Arritt of Fredericksburg, Janine Dickson of Allen, Texas, Anthony Jennings of Fort Polk, La., Brian Jennings of Winchester, Va., two brothers, Larry Jennings of Aurora, Ill. and Ronald Jennings of Phoenix, Ariz.; two stepsisters, Diane and Janet of Aurora, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services were held Jan. 25 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service in Stafford with interment following in Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Stand Up To Cancer, File 1224, 1801 West Olympic Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91199-1224.

Ida Mae Nicholson

Ida Mae Nicholson, 80, of Falmouth, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Plum.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Kenneth E. Nicholson; her daughter, Jane Bourne of Stafford County; a grandson; a granddaughter; a sister, Margie Kilmon, of El Paso, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Jan. 25 in Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Lucky Nixon

Charles Russell "Lucky" Nixon Jr., 63, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
Survivors include his son, Russell Hager Nixon; his former wife, Sandra Broadhurst; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Jan. 22 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service in Stafford with interment following in Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington.

Lauren Nicole Payne

Lauren Nicole Payne, 15, of Warrenton, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.

Survivors include her parents, Wanda M. Payne and Alan E. Banks of Warrenton; her brother Jayden Banks of Warrenton; maternal grandparents, Albert and Barbara Payne of Washington; paternal grandparents, Everett and Marjorie Banks of Stafford; and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Oscar and Annie Belle Payne and Nelson Jenkins Sr.
A funeral service was held Jan. 26 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels in Culpeper, with interment following in Bright View Cemetery in Warrenton.

Dotty Segar

Dorothy M. "Dotty" Segar, 64, of Stafford County, died Friday, Jan. at Stafford Hospital Center.
Survivors include a son, Buck Segar; a granddaughter; her father, Wilber F. Segar of Stafford; a sister, Diana Huppmann of Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was Jan. 25 at Covenant Funeral Service in Stafford with interment following in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stafford Volunteer Fire Department #2, P.O. Box 127, Stafford, VA 22555 or to the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1110 Courthouse Rd, Stafford, VA 22554.

Marie Lackey Taylor

Marie Lackey Taylor, 69, of Caroline County, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Denver Howard Lackey; her second husband, Jerome B. Taylor; a son, David Taylor; two sisters, Madeline Dean and Edith Thomas; and two brothers, Jesse Rogers and Earl Rogers.
Survivors include her children, Lisa Kistner, Howard Lackey, Angela Lackey, Thomas Taylor, Connie Vogel, Linda Livingston, Jim Taylor, and Gail Armstrong; brothers, Claude Rogers Jr. and Johnny Rogers; sisters, Ann Lecuyer, Christine Burcham, Beatrice Bibb, and Bernice Henry; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at noon, Jan. 29 at Covenant Funeral Service in Fredericksburg with interment at a later date in Shepherd Memorial Park in Henderson County, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the funeral home.
