The article, “Tornado, heat invade county”, with all its information, should alert us to stay cool and be very careful taking good care of ourselves in the excessive hot weather. This includes taking care of oneself, drinking plenty of fluids and eating or drinking foods or beverages that will help replenish the body with lost minerals and salts. In my case, I am eating bananas and drinking measured amounts of orange juice to keep my potassium levels up and drinking water to help me cope with this extreme hot heat.

After reading, I logged onto staffordfirerescue.com to learn more tips that I can use in this type of weather and always be prepared for what the unexpected might bring, too. I will wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat for protection in the sun. Getting out of the sun during the hot part of the day will also be a priority. Also, I will watch that my friends are not overdoing things in the hot weather.

The weather not only has caused damage to humans but around our vicinity. This excessive weather has been taking a tremendous toll on people’s health and their surroundings and possessions. Many of the residents of our county had damages from tornados and wind from the storms caused by the heat. Many were and still are without electricity. This can be a big problem on one’s health, not allowing their atmosphere to be cool for the body to work normally. They may need to find a shelter against heat as the fire and rescue site said.

The heat and storms are also playing a big role on our furry four-legged friends. It is so hot that the furry friend does not want to go outside and enjoy it. I will walk my dog in the cool mornings and evenings, leaving her inside during the hottest time of the day. I also watch over her when a storm is around. Many of our small creatures are afraid of the sound of thunder.
