South Gateway Drive, just off of U.S. 17 in south Stafford, recently opened for traffic. The road runs parallel to U.S. 17 and connects the new Target to Plantation Drive.
“As more businesses move to the Route 17 area, we must be prepared to manage the traffic that will follow them,” said George Schwartz, chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors. “Building these connector roads to redirect drivers from Route 17 will certainly help relieve some of the traffic congestion in the area.”
South Gateway Drive was built by the Silver Companies as part of the Carter’s Crossing project. Construction began in August of this year. The road was opened for traffic earlier this month.
