STAFFORD — On April 10, Richard William “Ricky” Carpenter Jr., 59, of Colonial Beach and Richard William “Richie” Carpenter III, 26, of King George County both died after the car they were riding in struck a freight liner head on.

According to Deborah Cox of the Virginia State Police, at 2:30 p.m., on Dalghren Road, about two miles west of Rte 610 in King George County, the Carpenters were in a Ford F150 that was hauling a trailer. The trailer caused the truck to weave, cross the center line and strike a freight liner truck head-on. The right-side corner of the truck hit the freight liner truck head-on.

The Carpenters were not wearing restraints. A 4-year-old child in the truck at the time of the incident suffered non-threatening injuries.
