STAFFORD — Since the Stafford County Board of Supervisors announced in March that it would be advertising a proposed new personal property tax on aircraft, the Stafford Regional Airport is holding three tentative leases for corporate aircrafts, said Ed Wallis, airport manager, in a telephone interview with the Stafford County Sun.
In addition, three more private hangars have been filled, he said.
“This is a step in the right direction in getting the airport to be a self-sustaining entity,” said Wallis of the proposed tax-rate reduction.
The new proposed rate is 10 cents per $100 of assessed value, from the current rate of $3 per $100 of assessed value.
The public portion of Tuesday’s monthly meeting has been postponed to a yet to be announced date.
