STAFFORD — Stafford County Supervisor Paul Milde completed a County Supervisor Certification Program this past fall and was subsequently recognized by the Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Association of Counties, according to a news release.
Milde said the program took about two years to complete.
The County Supervisor Certification Program was created in response to VACo members requesting more in-depth knowledge about government operations. The program is a partnership between Virginia Tech and VACo that provides training to enhance the leadership and decision-making skills of county supervisors in the Commonwealth.
“…This certification program is a way to acknowledge those members who seek additional training and recognize those who enhance their ability to better serve constituents,” said James D. Campbell, executive director of VACo.
Milde said he got a lot out of the program, which presents class members actual subject matter that would come before them as supervisors. His favorite subjects to touch on were budgeting and land use.
“It gave me a lot of knowledge,” said Milde of the program. “I wouldn’t have received so much information on this subject matter in such a short amount of time anywhere else.”
