STAFFORD — On Sunday evening a single-vehicle accident killed a Fort Washington, Md. man on Interstate 95 after he lost control of the 1997 Toyota Camry he was driving.
Edenilson Adonay Alas Alvarado, 20, died at the scene following the accident. He had struck an embankment and a tree while traveling southbound near exit 146.
The investigation is continuing, led by Virginia State Police Trooper N.E. Hollingsworth.
And, late last week, a New Jersey man and baby were killed in a car crash on Interstate 95, according to the state police.
The single-vehicle crash occurred June 4 around 6:20 a.m., about a quarter-mile north of exit 136, at Centreport Parkway when the driver of a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer ran into a median.
The driver, Kashonn A. McCauley, 29, of Iselin, N.J., lost control of the 2000 Mercury Mountaineer SUV he was driving, state police said. When he overcorrected, it caused the car to overturn.
McCauley and a female passenger survived, and were transported to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg for treatment.
The front-seat passenger, Rashied Kilgore, 24, of Rahway, N.J., was ejected from his seat, according to Tyler. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Kilgore died at the scene.
Additionally, an infant riding in the back seat, Kailei Kenmore, of Piscataway, N.J., was ejected from the vehicle. The baby was not restrained in the car seat, Tyler said.
She was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where she died at about 7:45 a.m., Tyler said.
An investigation is ongoing. State police Trooper M.A. Oliver is investigating.
