STAFFORD — Former Stafford County Supervisor Gary Snellings took home a win Tuesday night in the Hartwood District, capturing his party’s nomination.

He defeated his opponent, political newcomer Tim Dwight, in the district’s Republican Primary for the Stafford County Board of Supervisors.

Snellings received 52 percent of 550 votes, according to the Stafford County Registrar’s unofficial results.

Now, Snellings will take on M.S. “Joe” Brito, the incumbent, in the November election. Brito took control of the seat in January 2006. His current term ends in December of this year.

Snellings was a board of supervisors’ member from 2002-2005.

He lost to Brito by a slim margin in the November 2005 election — just 36 votes separated the two.
