STAFFORD — A Stafford man accused of robbing a Wawa on Garrisonville Road faced a jury trial last week. The jury recommended that he spend more than 60 years in prison.
Michael Scott Bleutge was in Stafford County Circuit Court on June 24 answering to charges including robbery and armed statutory burglary. He will be sentenced Oct. 21 in Stafford circuit court.
The robbery occurred at 105 Garrisonville Road on Oct. 16 last year, but was stopped by an off-duty federal agent who was in the store as a customer, and another customer at the store.
The assailant had appeared in a black ski mask during the attempted robbery, police said.
A customer, later identified as an off-duty federal agent, grabbed a coffee pot and threw the hot substance in the robber’s face. As the robber left, he took off his mask. Another customer saw him and was able to provide a description of him as well as the car he made his escape in, police said.
Both the mask and the five-inch hunting knife he used during the robbery were recovered.
