Woman with epilepsy encourages others
Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions in my area I was not able to make it to the epilepsy walk this year held in Washington, D.C. Hopefully, I will plan for rain or shine for next year’s event and will be a “participant” in the walk. I would have enjoyed hearing and seeing the star of “Heroes,” Greg Grunberg, talk of Jake, his son, and his son’s illness, as well as see the three NFL football players and hear their words of encouragement.
I have instilled in me perseverance and the courage to do whatever my mind and brain allow me to do that is in the right sense! I am me and nobody can take that away. I am as capable of as many things as a lot of other people in this world. I, myself, am a survivor of epilepsy, having faced neurosurgery. I am me! I can! I will keep on marching and go through that tunnel of scary and hard knocks life.
Thank God I have the courage and the perseverance to do and be who I am and keep myself busy and active. I just want people to know that having epilepsy can and should not stop you from living a normal life, thinking and being just like anybody else. Having gone through the surgery, I still need to push and talk to myself and tell myself, “you can do it!" Just smile and go with the flow of life.
