ARLINGTON — Stafford resident Dena Scruggs helped to set a new Guinness World Record at the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Sunday.

The southern Stafford masseuse joined an event organized by Massage Envy of Sterling and Ashburn to set a record for the most 15-minute simultaneous massages.

By time the runners’ awards were being presented, an announcement was made that the team had beat the previous record.

Scruggs served in the Marine Corps and has also run in the marathon. She has run Massages by Dena since 2004.

Although she only became aware of the Guinness Record attempt several days before she was determined to be part of the team.

“It meant a lot to me to be to be able to participate in this event,” she said.

She is also giving back to any of the MCM runners by giving a discount to anyone that brings in their race bib.

Appointment and contact information can be found at massagebydena.com.
