Anthony Fox, 42, of Olde Forge Drive in Stafford, was charged with malicious wounding after a fight with his stepson in the parking lot of Exxon at 375 Warrenton Road, said Bill Kennedy, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office public information officer.
Sheriff’s office Deputy James Kingman responded to a report of a fight between two men in the gas station’s parking lot about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was told that one man was unconscious and the other had left the parking lot in a black Lincoln Town Car. After receiving a description of the vehicle, Stafford deputies located the car and stopped it as it traveled south on Warrenton Road.
When Kingman arrived at Exxon, he found one man lying unconscious on the ground. Rescue personnel soon arrived to assist him.
The victim’s mother said her son had called and asked her to meet at the 7-Eleven on Olde Forge Road to discuss domestic issues. When she left her home to meet her son, Fox — her husband and the victim’s stepfather — followed her to the store, Kennedy said.
The two men began arguing over whether or not the stepson had permission to speak to his mother, she told police. She said that her son asked her to drive to Exxon’s parking lot so they could continue their discussion. Fox followed, and the altercation progressed to Fox pushing the victim until he fell on the ground, Kennedy reported.
Police claim Fox then began striking the victim until he was unconscious, Kennedy said.
Deputies took Fox to the sheriff’s office, where he was charged with malicious wounding and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
