LAPD’s missing person could be in Virginia
STAFFORD — The Los Angeles police are asking Virginians to help locate a missing California man.
Adrian Flores, 30, of Los Angeles, Calif., was last seen in LA on December 22, 2007. LAPD investigators have recently developed information through the course of their investigation that Flores may very well be living and working in Virginia.
Flores, who may be in Virginia under an alias, is a Hispanic male 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds. He has a “tribal band” tattooed around his right bicep.
In 2007, Flores left suddenly without taking any belongings or advising his employer that he was quitting his job.

'Family locator' on cell phone leads to arrest
STAFFORD — By stealing a cell phone with a GPS tracking device, a thief led deputies to his own arrest, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Two similar robberies were reported in the England Run area on the night of Dec. 4. In each case, young men were leaving a party on Minnear Court in Stafford and were stopped and robbed by a group of men. Clothing and electronic items were taken, police said.
One of those items was a cell phone with a "family locator."
With the help of the victim's mother, a deputy tracked the phone to Spruce Lane where items from the robbery were found, according to the sheriff's office. Police arrested Michael Antwon Smith, 22, charging him with two counts of armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Smith will also appear in Stafford County Circuit Court on March 16 for hit and run, driving on a suspended license and failure to yield.
The sheriff's office continues to search for other suspects regarding this crime.
Woodbridge doctor charged with sexual battery
WOODBRIDGE — Prince William County police have charged 44-year-old Mohamed Nizar Hussain, an internal medicine doctor, in two separate incidents at his office at 2000 Opitz Blvd. in Woodbridge.
Hussain, of 8909 Brook Road in McLean, is charged with one count of sexual battery and one count of assault and battery.
In the first incident, a 36-year-old Fredericksburg woman said Hussain touched her inappropriately on Sept. 14, said Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok. In the second incident, a 54-year-old Manassas woman said the doctor kissed her on Oct. 11, Perok said.
Prince William Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul Ebert said a third woman came forward but Hussain has not been charged in connection with any other crimes. Police obtained warrants for Hussain’s arrest Dec. 14 and he turned himself in, according to police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
He was released on his own recognizance and is due in court on Jan. 26.
Police: Man steals LCD TV from Walmart
FALMOUTH — A man stole a 40-inch LCD TV from the Washington Square Walmart on the afternoon of Dec. 17, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Security personnel at the store reported that the man put the TV in a cart and exited through a fire door. He put the TV in a blue Honda Civic, possibly a 2002 model, and left, they said.
He is described as a white man, 18-24 years old, 5 feet 8-10 inches tall. He wore a gray jacket with two white stripes on each sleeve and a black beanie cap, police said.
The driver of the car was a woman with long blond hair, according to a police report.
Police: Electronic games stolen from Walmart
FALMOUTH — A man stole about $1,000 of video games from the Washington Square Walmart on the afternoon of Dec. 17, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
The man took the merchandise, exited through a fire door, and entered into an awaiting tan Toyota Corolla and left, police said.
He is described as a white man between the ages of 35-45, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 210-230 pounds.
He was wearing a white shirt and a dark baseball cap, police said.
Reckless driver was arrested after driving escapade
STAFFORD — A Woodbridge woman who weaved through three lanes of traffic while traveling south on Interstate 95 in Stafford was arrested Sunday, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Jenna Ferguson, 23, of Darnby Lane in Woodbridge, was charged with driving under the influence, eluding and hit and run
Ferguson also hit another car, police said.
She was incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 bond.
Bomb threat occurs at Target
NORTH STAFFORD — The Stafford County Sheriff's Office cleared the Stafford Marketplace Target store after a note of bomb threat was found in the men's room Sunday evening.
The sheriff's office bomb squad and assistance in the form of K-9s from several jurisdictions were brought in to sweep the store. Nothing was found and business resumed.
Man dies shortly after arrest attempt
FREDERICKSBURG — A Spotsylvania man died shortly after being reported to the police for some boisterous behavior in the early morning hours of Dec. 16, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
The residents of a home in the 300 block of Palmer Street reported that the man was yelling and knocking on the doors and windows of their house. Not knowing the man, they called 911, police said.
An officer arrived to find the man extremely agitated, police said, noting that he appeared to under the influence of narcotics and/or alcohol.
The officer attempted to arrest the man. During a struggle with the officer the man became limp and unresponsive. The man, Norman Berryman, 28, died later at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
Police: Child makes purchases with counterfeit bills
FREDERICKSBURG — A small child attempted to make two minor purchases with counterfeit $20 bills at the Fasmart at 501 Jefferson Davis Highway on the evening of Dec. 15, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
An employee reported that the child bought a pack of gum with a $20 bill. A few minutes later, the child returned with another $20 attempting to make another minor purchase. This aroused the clerk's suspicion. The bills were determined to be counterfeit, police said.
A woman entered the store, got the child, and attempted to retrieve the two bills before she left.
The clerk got her license plate number and reported it.
Thief steals running car, police say
FREDERICKSBURG — A person stole a yellow Lexus LS300 from the 1300 block of Charles Street at about 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 14, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
The owner had left it running in front of his house to warm up.
Teen arrested for speeding, eluding police
FREDERICKSBURG — A Fredericksburg teenager was arrested Dec. 15 after speeding and eluding a deputy, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m.
David Latson, 19, was also going the wrong way on a one-way section of Fall Hill Avenue, police said.
Latson eluded police both inside the vehicle and on foot once he got to Wellington Woods Apartments, police said, and changed clothing once inside the apartment.
He was charged with driving without a license, reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic signal, and misdemeanoreluding and felony eluding.
Latson was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
