FREDERICKSBURG — Christmas decorations hang from lampposts. And trees are wrapped with twinkling lights.
Though the city’s decorations create a festive mood it is the storefronts of the downtown merchants that bring a holiday ambiance of yesteryear to Old Town.
The proprietors’ displays will delight the senses and imagination.
One retailer, Whittingham’s, filled its windows with life-sized gingerbread houses complete with reindeer on a rooftop.
And, if you missed the opportunity to see a local live production of "It’s a Wonderful Life" this year, you can get a glimpse of the movie at the Re-Run Shoppe on a vintage television.
From toystores to teashops, a stroll down the streets with horse-drawn carriages passing by can’t help but put visitors in a festive mood for the holidays.
Decorations are expected to be up at most businesses through the News Year’s Eve First Night celebration in Old Town.
