STAFFORD — On Tuesday, the Stafford County School Board agreed to discuss the possibility of increasing its budget for a new Stafford High School.
Further discussion with the board of supervisors will follow, according to the school board, which talked about various options and increases including a larger auditorium.
The new school is planned to open in 2015.
In other school news, Stafford Middle School opened this school year as a Kindergarten through eighth-grade school while Falmouth Elementary School goes through renovations.
Also, in neighboring Fredericksburg, the 6th Annual Baron "Deuce" P. Braswell II Run/Walk Against Teen Violence will be held Saturday.
Held at Courtland High School, the event raises awareness about teen violence and its.
Baron was a 16-year-old Courtland High School student and varsity football player who was murdered Jan. 20, 2006.
The event includes a youth run that begins at 8 a.m. for those 14 years old and younger. A 5K run/fun walk begins at 8:30 a.m.
