Courts: Mary Washington Foundation files lawsuit against estate

»  Comments | Post a Comment

STAFFORD — The Mary Washington Foundation filed a lawsuit in November against the executor of the estate of Arabelle Arrington, a UMW alumnus. The complaint seeks $6.3 million based on an intended donation to the university.
Arrington died in November 2010.
The estate’s executor is W. Boyd Laws Jr., of Calverton — Arrington’s nephew.
The Mary Washington Foundation contends that a portion of the money Arrington delegated was already spent, and wants to recoup the funds.

In addition, Laws owns Alwington Farm, which used to belong to Arrington. The Mary Washington Foundation wants the farm to be sold to account for the funds, according to the complaint.
