Chocolate event held for pets
FREDERICKSBURG — The 9th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza was held this past weekend to raise funds for the Fredericksburg SPCA. Two separate events used chocolate and animals to bring the community together and raise funds for the area’s furry creatures in a creative way. Angela Davis speaks at UMW
FREDERICKSBURG — Political activist, author and retired professor Angela Davis spoke at the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday. Davis is known for being on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List in the 1970s prior to being acquitted for her part in a courtroom crime by a jury of her peers. The Rolling Stones, John Lennon and Yoko Ono wrote songs about Davis.
Area residents take a dip in chilly water
FREDERICKSBURG — The Polar Plunge was held Saturday at Fredericksburg’s City Dock to raise funds for the Wounded EOD Warrior Program. The annual plunge included area residents coming out in the cold to take a plunge in the icy waters of the Rappahannock River.
ew dermatologists arrive in area
STAFFORD — Three new dermatologists have arrived to meet a shortage in the local area.
They include doctors Mark Eid and LeiLei Huffman, both in Fredericksburg, and Anju Pabby in North Stafford.

FORD — Fred Rankin III, president and CEO of Mary Washington Healthcare, has been honored as Germanna Community College Educational Foundation’s Distinguished Person of the Year.
Rankin was honored Feb. 10 at the Fredericksburg Country Club for his service.
