Deputies arrest two after stopping van

FALMOUTH— Deputies arrested two men at the Olde Forge Exxon Station the night of Feb. 10 after the apparently inebriated driver switched places with his passenger and another passenger became belligerent with a deputy, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
Rodney Bundy, 37, of Ruther Glen, was charged with driving while adjudicated as a habitual offender — a felony — drinking while driving, altering a tag and driving under the influence.
James Coleman, 41, of Locust Grove, who was one of four passengers in the car, was charged with drunk in public and assault upon a police officer after police said he slammed a sliding door on the deputy’s finger.

The men were incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. 

Police: Woman tries to sell phone back to its owner

STAFFORD — A woman police allege tried to extort money by taking funds for a cell phone she stole has been arrested, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Angela Alford, 21, of Pinto Lane in Stafford, was arrested after police say she took $80 for the cell phone she is suspected of stealing.

The victim stated that the Blackberry phone was stolen at Sport and Health in North Stafford. Her daughter started receiving texts from it that said the sender had the phone and would return it for $80 — the price she paid for it, police said.

A detective, posing as the victim’s boyfriend, made an appointment to meet Alford with the money. Following the transaction, deputies arrested her as she entered her car, which carried two children. Alford was uncooperative during the arrest and pulled away from the deputy several times. She was charged with grand larceny, grand larceny with attempt to sell, resisting arrest and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. 

Police arrest man following hit and run

FREDERICKSBURG — Police arrested two men for hit and run near the University of Mary Washington on Sunday night, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The suspect’s car struck the victim, a Stafford man, as he sat at a light on Jefferson Davis Highway and College Avenue. The offender then drove away and the victim pursed the until he lost sight of the offender, police said.

Meanwhile, he called the police, which found the offending car unoccupied in the 900 block of Madison Street in Fredericksburg.

They also located two suspects: James Dillard, 32, of no fixed address and Stuart Brock, 30, of Norfolk.

Police charged Dillard with hit and run, driving on a revoked license (DUI related) and reckless driving. He was incarcerated under no bond.

Brock was charged with possession of marijuana and released. 

Pennsylvania fugitive arrested in Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG — Police arrested a Fredericksburg man Feb. 8 for outstanding charges from Pennsylvania, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Franklin Lamont Dane, 41, of the 3300 block of Fall Hill Avenue was served two warrants each for felony kidnapping with a firearm, unlawful restraint, aggravated assault, threats, burglary, criminal conspiracy and assault.

He was incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional Jail pending extradition. 

Police: Jewelry taken from Hartwood home

HARTWOOD — Homeowners in the 700 block of Tacketts Mill Road reported a burglary from their home Feb. 9, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

They found a window broken and jewelry taken from several boxes. Pendants, earrings, rings and bracelets were missing, police said. 

Car damaged during altercation, police say

FREDERICSKBURG — A fight between two men at the Pizza King Restaurant on Plant Road on Monday night resulted in a damaged car, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Two groups of men argued with one other in the parking lot and as a result, two of them became embroiled in a physical altercation, police said.

One of the men approached the other with a knife and threatened him. The victim drove away but later found his car had been dented.

The police are pursuing a suspect in this case.
