STAFFORD — Last weekend, Ferry Farm celebrated the 280th birthday of first president George Washington.
The festivities included skits, crafts, children’s games and lessons in history.
Then on Monday, the focus turned to archaeology with activities for both adults and children for Presidents Day.
Other birthday events included a birthday card creation for George Washington and birthday cake served in honor of the first president.
And each year, depending on the weather, a stone toss is typically held as the day’s signature activity.
The stone toss recreates the story of Washington throwing a stone across the Rappahannock River.
