Three teenagers go on vandalism spree, sheriff’s office says

NORTH STAFFORD — Three teenagers were arrested following a Christmas Eve vandalism spree in North Stafford, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Matthew Hokana of Greenspring Drive in Stafford was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and underage possession of alcohol.

Stefan Hass of Bridgewater Circle in Stafford and Dakota Thompson of Thornberry Lane in Stafford were each charged wwith underage possession of alcohol and drunk in public.

Calls started coming in shortly after midnight Dec. 25, police said, noting that mailboxes and car mirrors were damaged in four neighborhoods. More calls also came in the next day.

Deputies pulled over a car with three 19-year-olds inside and found a bottle of alcohol and a baseball bat in it, police said.
They three teens were all incarcerated on a $1,500 bonds. 
 

Missing military spouse found

FORT BELVOIR After a 20-hour ground, water, and air search, the wife of a U.S. Army soldier that lives on Fort Belvoir was found safe on post at approximately 2 p.m.  on Monday. 

Military authorities at Fort Belvoir said the woman was with her husband and being medically evaluated at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.

 The Fort Belvoir Garrison Commander expressed appreciation to the Fort Belvoir community, Fairfax County emergency services, and the U.S. Coast Guard for their assistance in the search.

 Deputies arrest North Carolina man for driving intoxicated

STAFFORD — A wNorth Carolina was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana on the afternoon of Dec. 29, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Police received a call regarding a man swerving on Interstate 95  near the Stafford exit. When they pulled him over he smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred. Marijuana was found in his car, too, according to a police report.

Deputies charged him with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and having an open container of alcohol in his car. He was incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.  

Sheriff’s office: Intoxicated driver is habitual offender

NORTH STAFFORD — Deputies arrested a Dumfries man for drunken driving after they followed him to the Wawa on Garrisonville Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy Garrett, 35, of Kings Road Place in Dumfries was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving after being declared a habitual offender, refusing a blood/breath test.
He was incarcerated under a secure bond. 
 

Two arrested for armed robbery

STAFFORD — Deputies arrested two  people for an armed robbery that took place on Smith Street near Brooke Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Nathaniel Schofield, 18, of Northridge Drive and Christina Strohl, 18, of Tanterra Drive, both in Stafford, were charged with armed robbery, police said.

While getting a car ride from the victim, Schofield demanded money from him, stating he had a gun, according to a police report.

The victim complied and let the others out of the car.

The sheriff’s office reports that the victim is an acquaintance of Schofield and Stohl.  

Both were incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.  

Business robbed in Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG — A person broke into Thompson’s Florist, located at 2089 Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg, on the morning of Dec. 23 and stole the cash register drawer and a computer monitor, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Police: Resident startled by intruder

FREDERICKSBURG — A man quickly exited a house he had entered uninvited when he encountered one of its residents on the day after Christmas, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

A teen sat in his bedroom at the house in the 1200 block of Stafford Avenue when the man opened his door. It startled the teen and the man ran from the house, leaving behind any items he had collected, police said.

The intruder is described as a white man in his late teens or early 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, short dark hair and a full beard.

 Woman returns home to find gifts already opened

FREDERICKSBURG — A resident of the 800 block of College Avenue in Fredericksburg reported that she came home on the afternoon of Dec. 22 to find all the gifts under her Christmas tree unwrapped, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Nothing was stolen.

Police found a broken window in the house.
