FREDERICKSBURG — Missing Fredericksburg man Gilbert Wood was found safe early this morning in Loveville, Md., according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a convenience store around 5 a.m. to check the welfare of an elderly man who appeared confused. The deputy confirmed the identity of Wood and notified the Fredericksburg Police Department immediately.
Wood was not in any medical distress, police said. His car was found in the parking lot of the store.
Wood was transported to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office until family members could arrive to meet him.
He was last seen at Mill Park Terrace Apartments in the 2200 block of Caroline Street in Fredericksburg on Jan.11 around 11 a.m. He was reported missing that night by a friend who lives in the apartment complex.
Wood suffers from a heart condition and dementia, and left his medication behind, polie said. He was also reported missing in July 2011, and on that occasion he was located unharmed in Loudoun County.
