BEREA -- Cable workers pulled together to restring fiber optic cable along Warrenton Rd. last Friday evening. But that was the second time workers had to repair the system last week.
Some southern Stafford residents were without cable TV, telephone, or Internet access for more than 48 hours following a crash on I-95 around midnight on July 19. The incident impacted Cox Communications' fiber optic cable strung on poles along the highway.
But just as residents were comfortably settling back into their usual habits later in the week, a tractor trailer caught a cable along the eastbound lane of Warrenton Rd. The truck's trailer pulled the cable from a pole near the intersection of Holly Corner Rd. again severing a Cox fiber optic cable early in the evening of July 26.
Cox field service technicians Kerry Rump and Mike Turner were on the scene immediately following the breach to oversee operations. They also helped control traffic on Village Pkwy. as workers from Global Cable Works restrung the fiber optics.
Service was restored to the area later that evening.
