STAFFORD — The chief of the new Stafford Hospital Center was tasked Monday with helping open a state-of-the-art medical facility.

Cathleen Yablonkski has been hired to oversee the daily operations of the new hospital located on U.S. 1 in Stafford. She takes the position after serving as the director of operations at the Buffalo General Hospital in New York.

According to information released by MediCorp, owner of Stafford Hospital Center, Yabolonski took the Buffalo position in 2002 and improved that hospital’s operating performance by 50 percent. She also increased the number of patients seen at the facility by two percent.

When completed, Stafford Hospital Center will have 100 patient beds, 84 surgical beds, cardiac services, a full service emergency room and 10 labor and delivery rooms.

MediCorp also operates Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
