Public meetings set on parks and recreation bond referendum

STAFFORD — Three public information meetings regarding a parks and recreation bond referendum on the General Election ballot will take place this month, according to the county.
The meetings will each take place at 7 p.m.
The first meeting will be held Oct. 15 at the Rowser Building, located at 1729 Jefferson Davis Highway; the second meeting will be held at Park Ridge Elementary School on Oct. 22. The school is located at 2000 Parkway Blvd. And the final meeting will be held at Berea Fire and Rescue Station, at 20 Sebring Way in Stafford.
The General Election takes place Nov. 3.
Along with voting for candidates, voters will be asked on their ballots whether or not Stafford County should contract a debt and issue its general obligation bonds in the maximum amount of $29 million to pay, in whole or in part, for the following parks and recreation projects:
▪ Development of Chichester Park for park, baseball complex, and related facilities
▪ Development of the Belmont-Ferry Farm Trail, the Dominion Virginia Power
Easement Trail and the Belmont to Cannon Ridge Trail
▪ Development of Musselman Park for baseball fields, rectangular fields, trails, a playground, a picnic shelter, restrooms, parking and related facilities
▪ Development of a rectangular athletic field complex
▪ Improvement to existing parks, including renovations to playgrounds, picnic shelters, trails, courts, handicapped accessibility and signage
▪ Land acquisition
▪ Renovation or reconstruction of Curtis Park Pool
▪ Development of Phase II of Duff McDuff Green Park
