Dixon-Smith Middle
The Dixon-Smith Field Hockey Team came out on top in a defensive battle with Edward E. Drew Middle for the county championship on October 30. Going into the county tournament seeded fourth behind Gayle, Thompson and Drew the Bulldogs ended their fourth season and their fourth county championship with a record of 36 wins and 4 losses. Sue Evans, Connie Sullivan and Shawn Thurston coach the team.
Various Dixon-Smith Middle School band students were selected for the 2009 All-County Middle School Band. They will be performing at Colonial Forge High School on Nov. 13 and 14. In addition, the new choral director, Kyle Parton, had several chorus students chosen to participate in the All-County Chorus concert Nov. 4 at North Stafford High.

Last week’s students of the week were: Estrella Hernandez, Carlos Diaz, Taleah Gaither, Dylan Dalby, Mario Echeverria, Nizigiyimana Ejide, Kailea Flanary, Casey Clark, T’Laya Johnson, Andrew DeMar, Blaze Chavonelle, Lawrence Fye III, Diana Estevez and Wilmer Delcid-Portillo.
Winding Creek Elementary
The Winding Creek Elementary School Teacher of the Month is fourth grade teacher Mary Meadows. Angie Stanley was named Paraprofessional of the Month. The winners of the WCES “Pumpkin Run” are: Camden Henderson, Jordyn Romero, Jacob Kitchen, Paityn Walker, Andrew Watson, Anaisa Sibel, Paten Rodier, Bailee Walker, Jeremy Buechler, Lindsey Winkels, Jennylynn Johnson and Mark Roberts. Roberts’ mile time was 6:17.
