Jackson Brown had a hit song a few years ago entitled "Runnin On Empty". I don't know if Mountain View High School senior Thomas Porter was running on empty last Saturday when he competed at the Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego.
Porter, who won his first individual state title last month at the Group AAA meet, finished third, his best finish ever at that event. Porter ripped off a time of 15 minutes, 26 seconds and was the first Washington-area runner to be a three-time Foot Locker finalist in the 30-year history of the meet.
The high school basketball season is under way and both the Stafford High School boys’ and girls’ teams are off to solid starts. The boys’ team is 5-0 including a hard-fought win over North Stafford. The girls’ team also knocked off North Stafford, 68-50.
