The outdoor high school track and field season ended Saturday with the group AAA state meet at Todd stadium in Newport News. The Mountain View High School boys' team finished 11th.
They failed to get points in three events when senior Olu Olamigoke failed to place in the long jump and junior Thomas Porter was tripped in the 1,600 meter run and was unable to compete in the 3,200 meter. Olamigoke did finish fourth in the triple jump and teammate Alex Brown finished fourth in the 3,200. North
Stafford High School's Reynaldo Radlin finished third in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the 110 hurdles.
Stafford High School had two all-state performers. Jake Johnson finished fifth in the discus and teammate Joe Murray was eighth in the 1,600.
Colonial Forge High School's girls team finished 15th. Senior Kaylan Comer finished sixth in the 3,200 while freshman teammate Colleen Wade finished seventh in both the 1,600 and 3,200. Brooke Point High School's Colleen McGlade was fourth in the pole vault.
Congratulations to Shawn Szakelyhidi and his Colonial Forge baseball team. For the second straight year the Eagles have qualified for the Group AAA state tournament. On Friday the Eagles rallied with four runs in the sixth inning to slip past Albemarle High School 13-12 for their second straight Northwest Region championship.
Senior Levi Hyams smacked a grand slam homer and Jason Kittell had two hits and scored three times for Colonial Forge. Shane Paskanik had two hits and drove in a run for Colonial Forge and teammate Nick Lanicault added two hits.
Good luck to the Eagles in their pursuit of the school's first baseball state championship.
